Africa and Black Diaspora Studies (ABLD) is an interdisciplinary academic initiative dedicated to exploring the histories, cultures, intellectual traditions, and lived experiences of Black and African diasporic communities.
Through innovative teaching, research, and public engagement, ABLD creates space for rigorous scholarship and transformative dialogue within Canadian and global contexts.
Our curriculum spans more than 15 departments and continues to grow in response to strong student demand. Beyond the classroom, our seminar series, national conferences, and community partnerships create opportunities for students, scholars, and community members to connect across generations and disciplines.
